SEVENTEEN.COM - MAY 2005

just got home from England where I went on a 12-day tour. It was a great experience! I went with my instructor, seven of my team members, and my dad. We traveled from town to town visiting schools performing demonstrations. We also did many seminars at karate schools. The days were very long and tiring. We were up 20 hours a day. I did get two sight-seeing days - one in London and one in Doncaster.

While in London I went on "The Eye." It is a huge Ferris wheel. Usually, I am terrified of heights but this was not the same as riding the ones at the fair. The car was closed so I felt pretty safe.
We also visited Big Ben. We stood right beside it, and it was huge. At every hour it chimes which is so loud it can be heard all over town. We also went to the Buckingham Palace. We got to see the guards stand there and not move a muscle.
Can you believe that there are more than 600 rooms? WOW - what a place to play hide and seek. We also saw many cathedrals including St. Peter's Cathedral and St. Paul's Cathedral. The hardest part about this trip was missing school. Since I missed so many days I had a whole chapter of math and science to do. I have to teach myself everything and have everything done before I go back!
Overall, the trip was awesome but I'm glad to be home again sleeping in my own bed and eating American food! lol

Cheeleading

Hey Everyone! Why do I keep myself so busy? Because I love being on the go all the time. Sleeping seems so boring. Besides karate, I am a cheerleader. I cheer with the Step Ahead All Stars on the Seniors Team and we compete in the advanced division.
We just had our last competition of the year last weekend in Orlando, Florida and we did great. But instead competing in the advanced division we competed in the Elite division and we won first place. Wow, it was so cool! There were so many teams competing. We won a banner, trophy, and we received a gorgeous, suede jacket that says COA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS on the back.

I love cheerleading because winning depends on more than just my performance. Everyone has to be right on the money! Putting on the makeup and doing my hair is quite a chore, but there are never great rewards without great effort. This was the first tournament I went on without my dad. I really missed having him there with me. I know he was there in my heart though! We had a pizza party and went swimming at the hotel. I had a really great time!

Seventeen.com - April 2005 B

Hey Everyone! One of my toughest challenges is keeping up with my school work while participating in my karate and cheerleading activities. I am an 8th grader at Westminster Christian School. I like school a lot and I get really good grades because I am very organized and disciplined.

Chalk those habits up to my karate training! Every year, I miss about 25-30 days of school because I am always traveling for karate or cheerleading. It is really hard because I have to study ahead and do homework on stuff I haven't even learned yet. Then when I get back, I'm behind and have to catch up quick. I have a huge project coming up and I have to finish it early because I will be absent when it is due. Turning it in late is just not an option, not a good option anyway. I am making a totally cool poetry book for English. This book will include all the poems I have written throughout the year on different subjects. I love my school because I can learn about and pray to God. I am grateful for the talents He has given me. My school is kind of small compared to public schools in Miami. There are about 200 kids in my graduating class. Most of the kids I know there, I have been at school with since we were in kindergarten.
What do I want to be when I grow up? I want to be an orthodontist. I have a lot of experience with braces because it seems like I have been wearing them forever. I love a great smile so I think I should help people get a great smile.
